Since December 2002, I have volunteered my time to help a sporting organisation for little or no thanks for my time or effort. Sometimes this costs me a lot of money, which I have gladly forked out as until recently, I have enjoyed giving my time to this organisation. But lately, I’ve got a sour taste in my mouth.
It’s no longer fun for me. I’m over giving my time up and missing out on other things in life to help this sport. I’m no longer blind to the politics that surround it. The worst bit for me is that feeling that we absolutely have to turn up, or find an excuse to get out of going. When did it get like this? When did being a volunteer become such a burden? Self doubt and procrastination are my two greatest enemies. But today I shook off those demons and completed something I set out of achieve – a Certificate in Small Business Accounting from the Gilligan Business School. Sure it isn’t MIT or AUT, but I proved something to myself over these past 7 months on and off.
Originally my goal was to complete the 9 assignments and single test in the space of 10 weeks, as if I was attending the classes had they not been cancelled by low enrolment figures. I did not factor in moving house or having family staying for a fortnight, but even against the odds, I did the full course by correspondence and finished it. Read the rest of this entry »

So I’ve bought a few gadgets and accessories of late and its time to write a review as some of them are worth the money and some are not and I don’t want people going and spending their money to find products are crap (like I have done!)
Logitech Portable Lapdesk
I’m guilty of using my laptop on my lap in the lounge. But I’ve given myself a few sore shoulders making piles of books etc so that I can use my mouse instead of the track pad. I prefer to play my games and drive my laptop with a mouse, but its not practical to do so. This weekend I picked up a Logitech Portable Lapdesk. Already, the improvement is awesome. I’m using my mouse and comfortable – no shoulder or arm pain to be found. Read the rest of this entry »

2x Zucchini, Grated
2x Eggs
2x Spring Onions, Diced.
1/2 Cup Grated Cheese
1/2 Cup Flour or Gluten Free Flour
Milk as required
Salt & Pepper for Seasoning
Combine Zucchini, Cheese, Egg, Spring Onions and Flour. Combine. Add milk as required to make a batter consistency. Fry on BBQ or in a hot pan. Serve hot with tomato. Very delish!

I don’t believe in new years resolutions. I believe in making small, achievable goals, thereby lessening the chances of failure and self-inflicted disappointment.
Humans by nature are very lazy and driven by repeat behavior. I’ve never forgotten the old piano teacher I had, with her black cats and one leg 5 inches longer than the other, telling me that if you learn a song perfectly on the piano, eventually you’d get a muscle memory and that makes it easier for one to play music from memory because your fingers remember which keys go next. To this day, I can remember a few songs, but I am sadly out of practice, mostly from renting/owning homes that have no room for the piano. Read the rest of this entry »
