It started with a discussion last week at work, where the boss asked me if I wanted to do some courses etc and I dismissed the idea because the 2nd semester is about to start and I wouldn’t have time between then and the semester start to organise a student loan. Education isn’t cheap, but compared to elsewhere in the world, we have it pretty good.
Then talking to my mother this week, we were able to find a way to get me financed to attend and it all depended on my bosses approval of my enrolment and my missing work for four hours or so per week. Last night, before approval had even been sought, I’d purchased the text book, printed off and filled in the enrolment form and decided that, yes, I can do this.
Today, I got approval and on my way home from work, I dropped my Application for Enrolment to start my NZ Diploma in Business with Accounting Focus at Manukau Institute of Technology. It has been 10.5 years since I set foot inside a tertiary institute, and today, I was back. Hopefully I start in two weeks. Excite!!
So, here I am, working full time, probably studying part time, photographer and race control volunteer. Hopefully not too much on my plate!
Eh, too much on your plate or not, it’s all exciting!
Worst case I can sit in the corner and suck my thumb.
