At this stage, I intend to use up my Vodafone credit, but that said, I live in suburban Auckland and don't even get Vodafone reception in most of my house, which is crazy.

I have an XT sim card which I am going to put through the paces from tomorrow and over the weekend. I have some more posts coming on this topic!

If you're an iPhone user in the wop-wops, XT may perform better for you with the 850MHz network. Or, you could see if there's 900MHz coverage where you are, and get a phone that works with that - the iPhone doesn't. Maybe a 900MHz data stick for the laptop, and Wifi through that?

All I can say is though... try before you buy. These are expensive things, plus you have a lot of credit left on Voda. Why not use up that first?
