iPAL syndrome – what is it?
See when you purchase an iPhone, its just not enough. You cannot escape the urge to “pimp yourself” out with the accessories which sometimes will end up costing more than the iPhone itself.
I’m guilty of this iPhone Accessory Lust (or as I call it from now on in – iPAL) where I am presented with a multitude of must haves from car cradles, to flash headphones, alarm clocks with docks, cases, screen protectors, docks with remote controls and the list could go on if I could be bothered.
I have already purchased a couple of accessories for my iPhone. I’ve taken the liberty of listing them below:
- Belkin Silicone Skin in Pink/Grey.
- Screen protectors. A must have!
- Marware CEO holster (which btw, is NOT cool, its just for keeping it safe in my handbag with the kitchen sink et al)
- Apple Universal Dock with Remote, looks awesome on my desk while charging. The remote doesn’t really get used much by me.
So as you can see, I’m suffering from a case iPAL. And then theres the list of stuff that I want, which is almost as long.
For the Car – miCRADLE 3G & UltiMount V2
For weeks now I have been agonising, okay, maybe debating which option is best for holding my iPhone in the car, letting me use maps, hands free calling etc. and I didn’t want something stuck to my windscreen, or something permanently screwed to my dash in an awkward spot. I have found that my solution could be getting one of these and sticking it on the A Pillar in my car.
The interior of my car is bizzare, but with this stuck to the A Pillar, I might just pull it off, having it on the right hand side of my steering wheel, as my dash console is on the left hand side of my steering wheel. Yes. My dash console is in the middle of my car.
I also wish to get a bluetooth head unit at some stage too, but this will require some serious modifications to my dash as the factory stereo is part of the dash mouldings. I haven’t decided between Sony or Alpine yet.
For My Ears – Ultimate Ears Metro.Fi 100V
I went for a walk this week with my iPhone (in its holster as my trackpants have no pockets) and every two steps, the standard apple issue earphones fell out of my left ear. My right ear was fine. No complaints there, but its time to get some that will stay put. I’m postponing all walking listening to iPhone until I buy this suitable replacement. EDIT: I ended up purchasing some of these from Sennheiser. They’re awesome!
For The Wake Up Call – Logitech Pure-Fi Anytime
I charge my iPhone in its awesome apple dock with remote beside the bed at night and then have a seperate alarm clock. I’m planning on merging the two into this awesome little number from Logitech, which is an iPhone Dock/Speaker/FM Radio/Alarm clock. I’ve heard the speakers on this aren’t the best, but I’m only using it to wake up in the morning and to go to sleep at night.
If anyone would like to give me any of the products, free to keep in exchange for a review, please contact me
I’m not holding out much hope, but I like surprises too.
