geek overload

This weekend as you may know has been one I have been building up to for quite some time now. It marked the weekend that I got my iPhone and the release of Sims 3.

The iPhone is awesome. I have a few favourite apps and today I have been playing a few games on it. I have lowered myself to purchasing a few apps. If its over NZD$5, I won’t get it though. I will do a review of some apps later on, but at the moment, my favourite apps are Tweetie and CameraBag.

Yesterday I did the weekly shop iPhone style. I used it to compose my list in the notepad and then deleted items from it as I put them in my trolley. That was fantastic. It was better than walking around with a list written on the back of an envelope. Shopping. 21st Century Style.

Thats enough iPhone happiness for now. Any more and I might lose what few readers I have right?

The Sims 3 was released in NZ and around the rest of the world on June 5th. If you were lucky enough to live in the USA, you got it on the 2nd June. You lucky buggers you. The install is not fast. It takes a while to write all that data to your hard drive. During the install I was able to drive to the bakery, buy a pie and apple turnover, drive home and consume my bakery goodies and it still hadn’t finished.

I guess this is the time where I point out the bakery is only a few hundred meters away. And yes, I am so lazy that I did take my car. It was cold outside ok? Like 5 degrees celcius.

There is a good tutorial to help you get into things and after 3 days of playing, I am impressed enough that I might consider selling my Sims 2 collection. That aside, its also so more complex. You have moodlets, you can pick and choose which aspirations you want to fulfil. Depending on the traits you choose for your sim will determine what lifetime aspirations you can select from. Yes, you can select which life time aspiration you want, unlike Sims 2 which choose for you at random. Snooty Sims seem to have a good run down on the new version.

I will however be getting the Prima Guide for this from the good folks at Mighty Ape. I fear I may just be scratching the surface of this awesome game. One thing I have read somewhere is that in this new edition, there is no  money cheat as they have made earning money much easier for the average joe sim. Wheres the fun in that?
